Cibis Park, South Jakarta, 22 April 2025
For the past decade, #Seasoldier has consistently led environmental initiatives to protect Indonesia’s nature. The movement began with Nadine Chandrawinata and Dinni Septianingrum on 28 March 2015. Today, Seasoldier has grown into a community of over 10,000 volunteers across 17 regions in Indonesia, carrying out concrete and sustainable actions.
Earth Day, which falls on 22 April 2025, becomes a special occasion to host a public celebration in Jakarta and its surroundings. This year, the theme “BRANI” – Brave to Celebrate Real Inspiring Actions is chosen, echoing the global Earth Day theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The event aims to inspire more people, especially young people, to speak up and take real actions for environmental conservation.
The BRANI event will take place on Sunday, 27 April 2025, at Cibis Park, South Jakarta, running from 08:00 to 21:00. Designed in a family-friendly and casual atmosphere, the program offers both fun and educational experiences. The morning will begin with Zumba for mothers and children, followed by children’s activities including drawing, crafting coral reef models, and a special storytelling session about ocean conservation with Kak Aio Dongeng.
Other venues will host eco-enzyme workshops, paper recycling workshops, and three talk show sessions featuring environmental practitioners and public figures, including Melanie Subono and Medina Kamil. Outdoors, more than 30 thematic booths and installations will showcase sustainability initiatives. On the main stage, musicians such as Joan, Kafin Sulthan, and The Overtunes will entertain the audience. The event also features a preloved booth, supported by over 20 public figures, with 100% of proceeds donated for mangrove seedlings.
Speaking of mangroves, Indonesia is home to a quarter of the world’s mangrove forests, making mangrove planting essential. Through BRANI, Seasoldier has set a target of planting 10,000 mangrove seedlings, funded by donations collected during the event.
In line with SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals, BRANI is made possible through multi-stakeholder collaboration. The event is held in partnership with Cibis Park, a green office complex that integrates sustainability into its business practices. To achieve the 10,000 mangrove planting target, BRANI is fully supported by AEON Indonesia, Seasoldier’s partner since 2022, known for its nationwide tree-planting initiatives. This year, AEON Indonesia also celebrates its 10th anniversary. In addition, more than 100 Seasoldier volunteers from various regions will serve as the event committee.
